I was sixteen and away from home on a German exchange trip.

At first it felt exciting, new streets, new people, a different language all around me. But after a few days, the homesickness quietly crept in.

One evening, missing home more than I wanted to admit, I opened my suitcase and pulled out a jumper my mum had packed for me.

And there it was, that scent. Fresh washing powder. Clean cotton. The soft comforting smell of home that clung gently to the fabric.

For a moment, I wasn’t standing in a stranger’s bedroom hundreds of miles away.

I was back home again. Back in our kitchen. Back where everything felt safe and familiar.

It’s funny how a scent can do that. How something so simple can instantly transport you back to the people and places you love most.

To ensure you enjoy your candle safely, always burn it within sight. Never leave a lit candle unattended, and keep it away from anything flammable such as curtains, furniture, or papers.

Before each use, trim the wick to around 5mm. This helps prevent an overly large flame, excessive smoke, and ensures a clean, even burn. For best results, allow the wax to melt fully across the surface on the first burn to avoid tunnelling.

Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Avoid burning your candle near open windows, fans, or drafts that could cause uneven burning or sooting.

Keep candles out of reach of children and pets. Stop using the candle when about 10mm of wax remains at the bottom to prevent overheating the container.
